Overview: With the build season ending, Team 612 experiments and works with new technicalities to prepare for next year's challenge.
CHANTILLY, VA, APRIL 7TH, 2025. As the build season comes to an end, Chantilly Robotics continues to work on the robot to prepare for next year. This includes revising designs and reflecting on what could have been done differently for competition.
A group of mechanical team members focuses on improving the backup payload system. This system is responsible for shooting coral onto the reef, with the backup used if the main payload fails during competition. While the payload performed adequately during the event, the team recognizes there is always room for improvement.
Today, the mechanical team is working to enhance the design of the rubber wheels in the backup payload, called flywheels, that launch the coral onto the reef. The team is exploring ways to improve the design, anticipating that a similar mechanism may be needed for next year’s competition.
Although this postseason project won’t directly impact competition, Team 612 uses this time to develop and improve problem-solving and collaboration skills to prepare for next year’s build season. Innovation has always been at the core of Team 612’s values, and it doesn’t stop when the build season ends. Chantilly Robotics continues to grow, striving to make each year better than the last.
