CHANTILLY, VA – DECEMBER 8th, 2025 – Build season is rapidly approaching and Chantilly Robotics is taking apart Pearl, last year's robot, repurposing the parts and components for this year's robot.
Chantilly Robotics split the take down time into 2 parts: electrical followed by mechanical. Electrical went first, and they started with the sparks on the outside and then moved their way to the middle of the robot taking apart all of the electrical components. Ashvika said that “taking apart the robot not only lets us reuse the parts” but also “lets the new members see how the robot is put together.”
Mechanical then followed with a similar gameplan to take the robot apart. They first started with the components towards the outside of the robot and moved their way to the middle. There was a mix of new members and returning members, the latter explaining during the process to the former what each of the parts did for the robot last year.
In summary, unraveling the robot not only lets team 612 save the parts for a rapidly approaching build season but is also educational for new members to see how last year’s robot was put together.
