As preseason unfolds, Chantilly Robotics members, both old and new, begin to adjust to life on the team, eager to prepare for the demanding season ahead of them. From finalizing the intricate construction of their Swerve Drive system to passionately mentoring FLL teams outside of the engineering room, here is what Team 612 has been up to this October.

After relentless days of non-stop effort, Team 612 has finished construction of the Swerve Drive, a technological development initiated for the benefit of our robot. Mechanical meticulously crafted the components, including the modules, chassis, and belly pan. On the other hand, Electrical managed to complete their crimping and wiring processes and the preliminary training for new members. Exemplifying 612’s synergy, Electrical and Mechanical collaborated closely to ensure the safe assembly of the components by conducting rigorous test drives to guarantee proper functionality. Simultaneously, the Programming team has crafted and fine-tuned the necessary code, working harmoniously with their fellow subteams in the testing and debugging phase. With this collective effort, Swerve Drive is gradually preparing to serve as a vital asset in the forthcoming competitions. Finally, Marketing has been planning out the Impact Award Process & working on the Safety Animation required for the competition. They successfully completed the script and began the initial stages of the animation, which included performing test drawings. The team's plan is to finish roughly half of the animation in the coming weeks, with the overarching goal of delivering an exceptional final product for the competition. Under the guidance of the experienced captains, new members of 612 of all subteams familiarized themselves with the environment.

Outside of the workshop, Team 612 has continued to mentor in Lees Corner and Brookfield Elementary Schools. As the FLL competition season approaches fast, Team 612 has been assisting Lees Corner in their attempts to garner a successful season for the members of their team. Working with the FLL coordinators & the students, Team 612 has helped reorganize the structure of Lees Corner’s Team and get them ready for a successful competition season, spreading the values of FIRST through community assistance and incorporation. At Brookfield, Team 612 has been involved with the programming of the Elementary School’s robot, with a focus on LEGO Mindstorm strategic assembly and coding. Team 612, through various events and sessions for FLL mentoring, has been spreading the positive force of Chantilly Academy, building the Pyramid of STEM and instilling a sense of inspiration within the next generation.

Without the support of sponsors like you, Team 612 would not be able to plan and offer such diverse outreach opportunities to promote STEM in our community. For Team 612 to continue providing opportunities to the next generation of STEM innovators, they need continued support from sponsors.
