Closing In On Competitions

Updated: Sep 23, 2023

Overview:

  • Team 612 continues to power through build season as competition nears.

  • All of our members have been hard at work, with a focus on constructing a competition ready robot.

February 28, 2023, CHANTILLY, V.A. As the competition gets closer, Chantilly Robotics FRC Team 612 worked diligently to prepare the construction of our robot. With a higher frequency of weekly meetings, 612 members have been able to work more effectively and grow as a team.

The mechanical subteam used CAD to create final prototype designs for our robot’s grabber. They also worked to make and finish different parts for the robot, including the drivetrain, yoke, and tower. They installed some electronic equipment with these parts and handed off the tower to electrical for wiring work.

Electrical drafted and planned components for the electrical board. They worked on the past robot’s parts to test new components and improvise the drivetrain for the new robot. Additionally, they worked with programming to test LEDs for the robot. Electrical finished the CAD designs and mounted components onto the tower.

Programming has been assisting the drivers in fine-tuning their aim to accurately score cubes and cones, helping them gain points during the competition. They have also been creating a virtual robot simulation to test their code and have worked on the robot’s auto-balance feature, which stabilizes itself on inclines and the field. The subteam also worked with electrical on LED sequencing, giving signals to the driver using led lights.

The marketing subteam has continued filming, editing, and keeping up with our social media by posting build vlogs, highlighting the team’s hard work during each meeting. They also designed the team t-shirts and an avatar for Team 612.

Without the support of sponsors like you, Team 612 would not be able to plan and offer such diverse outreach opportunities to promote STEM in our community. For Team 612 to continue providing opportunities to the next generation of STEM innovators, they need continued support from sponsors.
