Prospects of a Successful Season

Overview:

  • Team 612’s subteams have been working on innovative technologies to help the team in competition and incorporate new members.

  • Team 612 has been getting a head start on the prestigious Impact Award, which they will work on through Build Season.

  • Team 612 has finished their Safety Animation, a video highlighting safety within FIRST, a crucial step as they move into Build Season.

  • Team 612, outside of the Academy, have been working on their continuation of FLL mentoring and tournaments at Brookfield and Lees Corner Elementary School.

Having adjusted to the life of the preseason, Chantilly Robotics members have continued to dedicate their valuable time and effort into preparation for the upcoming build season. From working on innovative projects to getting a head start on this season’s Impact Award, here is what Team 612 has been hard at work on this November.

While the subteams are continuing to collaborate on Swerve Drive, each subteam has been focusing on individual projects in order to prepare for the build season, incorporating their respective new members. With Mechanical and Electrical having finished their Swerve construction, it has been up to Programming for testing and debugging their Swerve code. Programming also continued work on object detection with the limelight camera while also having their new members work on rewriting the old robot, Bolt. Meanwhile, Mechanical prototyped the shooter and designed the cycloidal, a motor system used for heavy lifting and rotating. They have also been ardently developing auto-chassis, an online system for automating drive train creation. Not only does this simplify the construction process for 612, but also with the help of the Marketing team, it can be shared with other subteams. Furthermore, Electrical assembled the shooter and assigned their new members to the battery cart and drive station. This collective, dedicated preparation will reduce stress during the build season and provide 612 a significant edge in the upcoming competition.

The Marketing subteam of Team 612 is steadily approaching the commencement of crucial tasks. These tasks include, but are not limited to, the Impact Award and the Safety Animation. 612 has been getting a head start on the Impact Award, the most prestigious award offered to a FIRST team. After hours of planning and drawing, they also finished and uploaded their Safety Animation. Marketing’s diligent work on these projects will become vital for 612’s success in the future.

Outside of 612’s home, the Chantilly Academy, they have been subjecting themselves to a wide variety of events in other schools. 612 continued their FLL mentoring and tournament at Brookfield Elementary School, which is being run by them all the way through May. Similarly, Team 612 has also been mentoring Lees Corner Elementary School’s FLL team for the past two months in order to prepare them for their forthcoming competition. Through our mentoring of these teams, we have been able to spread the impact of FIRST and STEM to the new generation of individuals within their community and inspire a potential future in STEM.

Without the support of sponsors like you, Team 612 would not be able to plan and offer such diverse outreach opportunities to promote STEM in our community. For Team 612 to continue providing opportunities to the next generation of STEM innovators, they need continued support from sponsors.
