A Winning Anticipation Backed by Knowledge and Growth

Updated: Sep 23, 2023

Overview:

  • With preseason and 2022 wrapping up, 612 has reflected and celebrated what all their members have learned!

  • A special thank you to all of those who’ve supported us this past year.

DECEMBER 19, 2022, CHANTILLY, V.A. With our 22nd preseason and the calendar year coming to an end, here are some of the final things 612’s members have learned this past month before build season kicks off next year:

Mechanical has prototyped an intake system for objects such as balls and has learned metal cutting using power tools, while electrical has practiced rebuilding the electrical parts of our old robot Rosie as well as more advanced electricity topics like voltage & signal processing. On the other hand, programming is teaching members about vision processing using the Photonvision Library and pathfinding using the Worcester Polytechnic Institute Robotics Library. The marketing subteam continues Impact Award preparation after submitting a paper-animation style video for the FIRST Safety Animation Award at the beginning of the month. On a lighter note, 612 held their annual winter party on December 12th, a cherished tradition where for 90 minutes, members and mentors play games, eat snacks, and cherish a great time after a productive preseason!

Lastly, 612 wants to express their personal gratitude for everyone who has supported the team’s mission to expand STEM education throughout this year. Namely, these generous sponsors include the Aerospace Corporation 501c(3), SSG Group Consulting, Mod Pizza, Leidos, Metron, and the Bhat Family. The team truly appreciates all of your contributions to the 612 mission! Without the support of sponsors like you, Team 612 would not be able to plan and offer such diverse outreach opportunities to promote STEM in the community. For Team 612 to continue providing opportunities to the next generation of STEM innovators, they need continued support from sponsors.
